# Quickstart: Agents (MCP)

> Connect Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client to AskEditor and edit a video from the chat.

The fastest integration is no integration: AskEditor ships a hosted MCP
connector. Connect your agent and it edits your AskEditor projects from the
chat, while every change appears live in the editor.

## Connect

* **Claude or ChatGPT desktop app**: install the AskEditor plugin. It opens
the editor beside the chat. Steps:
  [Claude](https://askeditor.com/claude-code-plugin),
  [ChatGPT](https://askeditor.com/chatgpt-plugin).
* **Claude Code, claude.ai, Cursor or any MCP client**: add
`https://mcp.askeditor.com/mcp` and approve it. Steps for each client:
  [Connect over MCP](https://askeditor.com/docs/mcp/connect.md).

Signing in uses your AskEditor account through OAuth: no key to copy.

## First edit, in plain language

Once connected, this is a conversation, not code:

> "Open my latest AskEditor project beside this chat." → the agent calls
> `list_projects`, `open_project` and `get_editor_url`, and the editor opens.
>
> "Cut the long pauses and add captions." → the agent reads what the clip
> says with `get_clip_transcript`, cuts the timeline, adds the captions, and
> looks at the result with `watch_edit` before telling you it is done.
>
> "Export it." → the agent calls `export_video`, then `get_export` until the
> film is ready, and gives you the download link.

## What it costs

Editing is free. Paid work (generated video, pictures, voices and music)
uses your AskEditor credits, and anything that costs more than a few credits,
or deletes something, asks you first. See
[Connect over MCP](https://askeditor.com/docs/mcp/connect.md#approvals-and-credits) and
[askeditor.com/pricing](https://askeditor.com/pricing).
